The Provost explained his rationale for the composition of the steering committee which consists of the four department chairs from the RCOE. The 4 chairs are expected to provide direct liaison with faculty, staff, and students in their respective departments. Representatives from Math and Science are included because the Provost wishes to highlight the importance of math and science education, including providing much needed space for the Math/Science Center. Design and Construction is present to provide liaison with that unit and the architect, etc. Campus Space Utilization is represented to provide an overview of space uses. Residential Life is present in the event that some form of living/learning elements are included in the plans. The Dean is present as the academic officer in charge of the entire college. Technology/staff are represented to insure that staff needs are addressed and that technology is clearly represented in the overall planning of the building. The Steering Committee will be chaired by Dr. Duke, Dean of the RCOE. Art Rex has been appointed by the Provost to serve as the ombudsman/shepherd for the project.
